Statement

My practice is centered around a critical and exploratory approach to digital technology and software systems, how they codify our relations to eachother and the natural world; and the nature of technology as an evolutionary force. Drawing on cybernetics, continental philosophy, and ecology, my practice seeks to trace the imprints of complex, planetary systems, and to ask what it means to be alive in the anthropocene.

My work often begins with writing – research, or fiction – and a technical enquiry into a piece of code, specialist software, or technical system.

Bio

Ewan is an artist and writer based in London. Previously, Ewan worked as a creative technologist creating digital and interactive storytelling projects for documentary and non-fiction narratives. He co-created Quipu-Project (2013-2017), a participatory storytelling project with survivors of a forced sterilization programme in Peru; and Love and Seawater VR (2019). Ewan holds an MA in Digital Media (2012), and an MFA in Fine Arts (2026) from Goldsmiths University. He has delivered talks and workshops at universities and creative industries events including Cambridge University, the BBC, and Sheffield DocFest. He has previously held visiting lecturer posts at the University of Westminster and University College London
